Day 4

pineapple rings, portobelo mushrooms, kabobs and asparagus
Another fireside breakfast. This time I skipped the hot tea… it just doesn’t compare to the coffee that I usually have, so I’d rather have a smoothie… my green smoothie!
The produce is beginning to dwindle down, and the kids are getting a little bored of the same things over and over again, so Andy and I went to the store to mix it up a little. We got some pineapple, mixed greens for salads, asparagus, and then some zucchini, squash, cherry tomatoes, onions, peppers… oh ya baby… we are havin kabobs tonight!
We grilled the kabobs, asparagus, and the pineapple …
OH. MY.GOODNESS. yum! Too good!
Day 5
The kids are still home from school because of Presidents Day. I think this has been perfect timing. I’ve been able to make their lunches and smoothies and help them through this process. Believe it or not, Drew my 5’5″ eleven year old has been going through this like a pro. I thought he might be the hardest… well besides Kaitlyn! He is usually my “I’m HUNGRY” kid, and can never get full. He can out-eat me any day, but now, he is totally satisfied with the fruits and veggies and wild rice that I suggest to him. (is this the same kid??) I sometimes ask him how he’s doing, and he smiles and says, “great!” He told me today that he has more energy now than before! It’s making me start to re-think what the “post purification” grocery list is going to look like!
Tonight is volleyball night. I was a little concerned I might not have “normal energy”, but it went well!
Dinner tonight is a mixed salad (for most). Drew and Kaitlyn groaned a little. They do NOT like vinaigrette, or any of the “OK dressing choices” for a salad. So to compromise, I told them that if they will eat a salad, then they can have any kind of dressing they want. I know it’s not the best choice, but baby-steps! (I’m trying to get them to like salad.)

total weight lost – 5 lbs for me, Andy told me that he has dropped 11, and Drew and Alex are pretty excited with 3 lbs each!
