Walker Scobell, who gained significant fame for portraying Percy Jackson in the TV series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, experienced a 6-inch difference in height within nine months.
Well, the matter is about three years old. It was January 2021 when the 12-year-old Virginia actor auditioned for his career breakthrough character, Percy, and a year later, the production team let Walker Scobell know that he had landed the role.
Then after, they started shooting for the first season of the series, and in the meantime, Walker was 5 feet and 1 inch tall.
However, by the time the first season shooting was completed in the next nine months, Walker Scobell had already grown 6 inches and measured 5 feet and 7 inches, Teen Vogue reports.
Not only in height, but Walker Scobell experienced a drastic change in his voice during that time, as puberty hit him, and that appears to have snatched a chance to do greater things in his career.
Actor Walker Scobell lost the role in Deadpool & Wolverine after a rapid increase in height and change in voice!
Walker Scobell was one of the most demanded actors in Deadpool and Wolverine, people believed that he would be a perfect fit to play Kidpool.
However, fans were disappointed because the teenage actor lost the prominent role due to a drastic change in physical attributes, including his height and voice.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, directors Lewy & Renold said, “If Walker Scobell had stopped evolving right before puberty, he absolutely would’ve been Kidpool.”
The directors realized he would be too old and too tall for the role. Further, his low voice would not match the character’s demands. “We reached out to Walker and explained why he couldn’t be in Kidpool; he was completely understanding,” said the directors.
Well, Puberty is what it is, and it is inevitable. Walker, of course, has lost such a big role now, but having said that doesn’t mean he has lost all the new opportunities, doesn’t it? Many more new opportunities may be on his way.
