American politician Tulsi Gabbard is of mixed ethnicity with European, Samoan & German ancestry!

Tulsi Gabbard was the first Samoan-American to become a voting member of Congress.

Date:

Tulsi Gabbard, former Hawaii’s democrat, United States Army Reserve officer, and conservative political commentator, has mixed ethnicity with Samoan and European descent.

The former Hawaii democrat and politician Tulsi Gabbard was born on April 12, 1981, in Leloaloa, MaÊ»opÅ«tasi County, on American Samoa’s main island of Tutuila.

Tulsi was the fourth child of Mike Gabbard, her father, who has Samoan and European ancestry, and Carol Gabbard, her mother, who was born in Indiana and has German heritage.

In addition, she was raised in a multicultural household, and her parents, Mike and Carol, both follow different religions. Her father is an active lector at his Catholic church, and her mother practices Hinduism.

Besides, according to CNN reports, her father, Mike, is a Hawaii state senator, and her mother, Carol, is a former Hawaii Board of Education member.

Tulsi Gabbard started following Hinduism as a teenager and believes in Geeta!

Mike and Carol Gabbard migrated to Hawaii from Leloaloa in 1983, when Tulsi was only two years old. She grew up in Hawaii alongside her three elder brothers and one younger sister, Vrindavan.

After moving to Hawaii, Tulsi’s mom, Carol, became interested in Hinduism and started practicing it. As a result of it, she gave all her children Hindu names, including Tulsi.

Likewise, following in her mother’s footsteps, Tulsi started practicing Hinduism as a teenager, reports say. She also learned spiritual principles such as Karma from the Bhagavad Gita and followed the Vaishnava tradition of the Hindu faith.

Tulsi also reportedly said in different interviews that her practice of Hinduism awakens the karmic yogi in her, inspiring her to work for others without considering the rewards.

The fact is that Congressman Tulsi Gabbard is the only one practicing Hinduism in the House of Representatives.

She even used Bhagavat Geeta while taking an oath in 2013. According to HuffPost, Tulsi said, “I chose to take the oath of office with my personal copy of the Bhagavad Gita because its teachings have inspired me to strive to be a servant-leader, dedicating my life in the service of others and to my country.”

Additional Information

  • Tulsi Gabbard is lifelong surfer, a yoga enthusiast who regularly does her morning yoga and meditation practice.
  • The Vaishnava follower Tulsi has mentioned being a vegetarian, though some sources have reported that she is a vegan.
  • She was partially raised on the teachings of the Science of Identity Foundation, a Vaishnava Hindu organization connected with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
