During trial, it was further proven that Samuel really was desperate to prove his parents, especially to his father Blake that he is straight, by slaughtering his friend who was homosexual.
When public defender Ken Morrison asked Samuel if he is afraid of anyone, Samuel Woodward started by saying that he loves his parents more than he can imagine and later stated, “My father though… just even thinking about the look on his face if he saw something like that… that got out somehow, I couldn’t fathom that.”
Likewise, his father Blake also once admitted in the court in 2019 that he always thought that Homosexuality is a sin and this all belief appears to have affected Samuel’s psychology that led him to take such a huge step slaughtering his own friend out of hatred.
Michele Woodward, Samuel’s mother, said that she and her husband used to communicate to their son through letters
During testimony in the Orange County courtroom, Samuel’s mom Michele Woodward provided a vivid details of her son’s upbringing saying that her son was very outgoing, intelligent and energetic in his early years.
But, as the years gone by, he started having anger issues that led him to have less friend and getting more fixated to things like car, airplanes, and then history, especially World War II.
