Rajindra Campbell, the former Missouri Southern Lion, made history, becoming the first Jamaican to win a bronze medal in the Men’s Shotput finals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
On 3 August 2024, Rajindra successfully secured a medal for his country, placing third in the Shotput with a second throw of 22.15 m.
In a total of six, he managed to throw two legal throws in the series, the first being 20.00 m. The throws from three to six were fouls, including the long throw at the end, which could have earned him a silver medal.
Well, whatever the matter is, Rajindra has come a long way, becoming an Olympian. But if it weren’t for his brother, Roderick, and his coach, Brian Allen, he would already have given up on his dream to be an athlete.
In an exclusive talk with KSN 16, he said, “Last year when I threw a 22, I felt I really had a chance to compete and could realize my dreams.”
But his brother and coach pushed him to do better so he could reach his current level. In this regard, he stated, “Coach Allen and my brother really encouraged me.” Well, his brother and other family members, including his parents, must be proud of Rajindra Campbell.
