Mike McDaniel, the NFL head coach for the Miami Dolphins, was born on March 6, 1983, to parents of different ethnic backgrounds. His mother, Donna McDaniel, is a white woman from Colorado, and his father is black.
McDaniels’ parents met while attending a dance class and soon fell in love. After dating for some years, the two tied the knot despite coming from different ethnic backgrounds and welcomed a son.

However, their marriage didn’t last long. Mike McDaniel was still a toddler when his parents separated, and after that, he was raised by his mother singlehandedly.
Before marrying Mike’s father, his mom had already been married once and had lost her first husband in an accident at the young age of 25.
Then, she had some beautiful years with Mike’s dad, and after they parted ways, Donna once again married Broncos video coordinator Gary McCune.
Mike McDaniel, who is a mixed child, wishes people would identify him as human, not as a black or white man!
For most people, Mike McDaniel appears to be a white man because of how he looks, but he wishes people would identify him just as human rather than categorizing him as a black or white man.
According to NBC Sports, on February 10, 2022, McDaniels said, “It’s been very odd, to tell you the truth, this idea of ‘identifying’ as something.”
Further, he added, “I think people identify me as something, but I identify as a human being and my dad is Black, So whatever you want to call it, I know there’s a lot of people with a shared experience.”
Besides, McDaniel also said that he hasn’t really faced racism because he looks like a white American, but his father has faced it, and his mother did, too, when she married his dad.
