American lawyer and public policy advocate Maya Harris, popularly known as the sister of the U.S. Vice president Kamala Harris, appears to be absolutely proud of her only kid, Meena Harris, who recently delivered a speech at DNC 2024, garnering high media attention.
Maya always raised her only daughter Mina, who was born Meenakshi Ashley Harris on October 20, 1984, to be independent and strong enough to be like the women in the Harris family.
Mina, in fact, was upbringing in a family full of women, which Mina has openly discussed over the years in the media.
In an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show, she described how being surrounded by incredible women of color greatly impacted her and inspired her to pursue her ambitions.
Further, Meena added, “I grew up in this family of incredibly strong powerful women and that’s what I thought was normal. I wasn’t aware of the fact that is not how the world actually is. I think that was incredibly special.”

From Shyamala Gopalan Harris, Kamala Harris, Maya Harris to Meena Harris, all the Harris women have been strong and independent. So, following in the footsteps of such career-driven women in her family, Meena Harris has also made significant career achievements.
Despite graduating from Harvard Law, Meena didn’t continue practicing law; instead, she established a fashion company, The Phenomenal, in 2017. The Phenomenal has now branched out into the Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign, Phenomenal media, and Phenomenal productions.
The Phenomenal Woman Action Campaign is an organization that brings awareness to social causes. It covers a range of policy issues, including healthcare equity, criminal justice reform, gender parity in STEM, reproductive health, and political representation.
Moreover, in 2020, she released her first children’s picture book, Kamala and Maya’s Big Idea, based on the real story of her mother, Maya Harris, and aunt Kamala Harris.
Likewise, she released her second children’s book, Ambitious Girl, in 2021 and her third, A Is for Ambitious, in 2023. In addition, Meena served as a commissioner on the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women from 2016 to 2017.
