Linda Sun, a former deputy chief diversity officer to New York Governor Kathy Hochul and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, and her husband, Chris Hu, were recently charged with federal-related offenses.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Linda Sun and her husband, Christopher Hu, were taken under by the FBI at their Long Island residence. Linda Sun was charged with federal offenses related to allegedly acting as a spy for the Chinese government.
Her indictment includes violating and conspiring to violate the Foreign Agents Registrations Act, Visa fraud, alien smuggling, and money laundering conspiracy.
According to CNN, the Federal prosecutors announced the charge of her husband, Chris Hu, with money laundering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, as well as misuse of identification.
Likewise, according to sources, Linda acted as “an undisclosed agent of the Chinese government while her husband, Chris Hu, facilitated the transfer of millions of dollars in Kickbacks for personal gain.“
But, Linda Su and Chris Hu pleaded not guilty to all charges Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn federal court before United States Magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo.
After that, Linda Sun and her husband, Chris Hu, were freed on bonds of $1.5 million and $500k, respectively. The court has limited Linda Sun and Chris Hu’s travel to New York City, Long Island, Maine, and New Hampshire.

According to The Washington Post, the scheme of the couple Linda Sun and Chris Hu earned them millions of dollars, which led to their luxurious lifestyle.
Likewise, while working with the United States government, Linda Sun sought to arrange for a high-level New York state official to visit China. She stopped Taiwanese government representatives from meeting with officials.
In return, Chinese government representatives allegedly arranged millions of dollars in transactions for Linda Sun’s husband, Chris Hu, which further helped in China-based business activities.
Furthermore, authorities said Linda Su and her husband, Christopher Hu, used the money to buy a $4.1 million house in Manhasset, New York.
They also own a $2.1 million condo in Honolulu and several luxury cars, including a 2024 Ferrari Roma sports car.
Linda Sun’s family also allegedly received gifts of succulent Chinese meals, such as salted ducks prepared by the personal chef of a Chinese consulate official, which also led to suspicions about their connection with the Chinese government as a spy.
