French-born artistic gymnast Kaylia Nemour, who is currently representing Algeria in the 2024 Paris Olympic games, holds dual nationality thanks to her parents, Jamel Nemour and Stephanie Nemour.
Her father, Jamel, has Algerian ancestry, but he appears to be the first generation from his family to migrate to France and become its permanent resident.
Regardless of his true origin, Kaylia’s father mentioned himself as a native of Noise-le-Grand, the eastern suburbs of Paris, France, on his Facebook bio.
Similarly, the athlete’s mother, Stephanie Nemour, is a French who currently resides in Beaumont-En-Véron, France. That is why athlete Kaylia is said to hold both Algerian and French citizenship.
While Kaylia Nemours’ father has stepped into business, her mom, Stephanie, volunteers for the gymnastics club
After qualifying as an assistant animator, Kayla Nemours’ father, Jamel, switched to entrepreneurship about four years back.
On November 28, 2020, Jamel’s wife, Stephanie, shared a Facebook post, writing, “It is with a very special happiness that I announce that my husband Jamel Nemour has finally decided to go into his business and qualify as Deputy Animator.”
Similarly, Kayla’s mother, Stephanie, is the volunteer president of a high-level gymnastics club, as per her professional profile. She worked as a trader for over 10 years before beginning her journey as a gymnastics volunteer, which is how she enrolled her children, including Kaylia, in gymnastics.
Further, Stephanie has also worked as a business, network, and recruitment manager, as shown in her LinkedIn profile.
Gymnast Kaylia Nemour said ‘it’s a strange feeling’ to represent her father’s homeland in the Olympics!
Born and raised in central France, Kaylia Nemour always dreamed of representing her country, France, in the Olympic games. However, since the French Federation objected to her representing France, she decided to go for Algeria.
Talking to TSA, she said that she is feeling a bit strange about being entitled as an Algerian gymnast in Paris 2024, and said, “I say to myself, it’s home, but not quite home.”
But Algeria has welcomed her with a full heart, showing their abundance of support for Kaylia. In this regard, her mom, Stephanie, said, “She trains in France and is supported at all levels by Algeria, the country of her grandparents that she only knew through photos…“
Well, whatever the matter is, Kaylia has a chance to fulfill her dream of winning the media award at the 2024 Olympic Games.
