Recently, at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, 17-year-old Gus Walz won the hearts of millions for his innocence and the love he showcased towards his father, Tim Walz after he delivered a speech.
He stood up from his seat and, pointing toward his dad, said, “I love you, dad.” The clip soon went viral over social media, and many appeared to have noticed some unusualness toward Gus’ gestures.
Well, here are things to know about Gus Walz, who is neurodivergent and has been struggling with a non-verbal learning disorder from a young age. In this regard, Tim once said, “When our youngest Gus was growing up, it became increasingly clear that he was different from his classmates.”
Tim further stated that when Gus entered his teenage, he and his wife, Gwen Walz, learned that their son had a non-verbal learning disorder and also an anxiety disorder, and ADHD, which made him a little unusual in comparison to others.

In an exclusive conversation with People, Tim, and Gwen mentioned that they noticed hints of Gus Walz’s Unique traits at an early age and considered it their son’s power.
The couple said, “It took time, but what became so immediately clear to us was that Gus’ condition is not a setback — it’s his secret power.“
Meanwhile, Tim and his wife are proud of their son for the man he’s becoming and are excited to have him with them on this journey.
Despite having different conditions, Gus and his family have never considered those conditions a problem and have completely normalized them.
