Three-time world champion Grant Holloway, who recently qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic final by achieving the top position in the semifinal of 110m men’s hurdles, considers his parents the greatest driving force behind his accomplishments so far.
During an interview with T&FN back in 2021, Grant gushed about his parents’ active role in his life, from his early career success to his journey of discovering his real self when he took a year off after establishing himself as an ironman in the American sports world.
In the meantime, he said, “You know, I owe it to my mom, I owe it to my dad about everything going on right now. Well, the fact to be told is that Grant is pretty mindful of what his parents, Stan and Latasha Holloway, did to raise him.
That’s why the American athlete Grant Holloway, as a good son, makes sure to check on his parents once in a while and make time for them. During COVID-19, when he was unable to see his mom and dad who were in Virginia, he was so pissed off.
However, he used to talk to his mom and dad in Zoom regularly and developed a good bond with them. Despite that, he was in a rush to reunite with his parents in person. As he once stated, “It has been difficult hanging out for Zoom meetings, but hopefully soon I will get the chance to go up there (to Virginia) to spend time with them...”
Grant Holloway’s dad, Stan Halloway, trained him when he was just 11 years old!
Stan Halloway, who has introduced himself as a coach dad in his Instagram bio, is the first trainer of Grant Holloway. While reflecting on Grant’s Olympic journey, Stan revealed that he coached both his sons Trey and Grant.
Stan said that he was already giving training to his older son Trey, and all of a sudden, Grants joined him. “For me to make that transition from teaching one to teaching both was pretty easy.”
Since Grant had a strong urge to beat his brother by running fast at a young age, he has achieved what he has achieved so far, and his parents are proud of him. Since Grant is competing in the Olympics, his mom and dad are expecting a gold medal from him.
In a media talk, Grant’s mom, Latasha, said, “The goal is simple this year; the goal is gold. You know, we are manifesting that….” Lathasha and Grant have already reached Paris to support their son in the Olympics.
