Colt Gray, a 14-year-old convict involved in the tragic accident at Georgia High School on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, grew up in a family with several problems.
Colt Gray’s family has a troubled history, where both his father and mother suffered from several traumatic events in their life. His father suffered from severe abuse from his early childhood.
According to Colt Gray’s mother, Marcee Gray’s Facebook post of November 20, 2022, his father faced a lot of abuse, including getting a broken arm at the age of 8 when he was asleep and a barstool cracked his skull open.
Likewise, Colt’s father also suffered from post-traumatic depression; Marcee Gray stated that every single person in Colt’s father’s life has hurt or betrayed him all his life.
Colt Gray’s mother, Marcee Gray Polhamus, also had a troubled past; she was addicted to substance abuse and was charged with concealing the identity of a vehicle, possession and use and sale of dangerous substances, and other offenses on November 6, 2023.
Similarly, Marcee Gray also hinted at her mental health issues in her Facebook post, stating any female who is going through hardships, heartaches, or digging their family out of 13 years of abuse, take my advice. She also often talks about her struggles in life.
In a comment section, a person shared a post of Marcee where she talks about 14 years of abuse and how she, along with her children, moved to her hometown in South Georgia.
Marcee Gray’s social media also reveals that she attended Fitzgerald High School and Georgia Southern University. She often shares pictures of her children on social media, including Colt Gray and his younger sister and brother.
Very little information about Colt Gray’s father is publicly available, and his name has not yet been disclosed.
Speculation grows that Colt Gray’s family also contributed to his immoral actions!
People speculated that Colt Gray’s family was equally responsible for his immoral actions after news from the FBI started spreading all over the internet. The news revealed the interview with Colt and his father a year ago.
According to a Joint statement from the FBI Atlanta and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, in May 2023, the FBI’s national threat operations center received several anonymous tips about online threats to commit the tragic incident at school at an unidentified location and time.
Likewise, the online threats contained photographs of weapons; within 24 hours, the FBI determined the online post originated in Georgia, and the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office informed The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Jackson County Sheriff further located a possible subject, the 13-year-old boy Colt, and interviewed him and his father. His father said he had hunting weapons in the house, but Colt didn’t have unsupervised access.
After the news, many people stated that parents must be equally responsible and charged. Some people are calling Colt’s parents irresponsible and say that they should have taken the weapons out of the house.
