While competing in the men’s qualifying events on August 3, French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati had a mishap, as his private part struck the pole bars, preventing him from making it to the final round.

The video of his unsuccessful attempt in the particular event soon went viral across social media since his crotch, which coincided with the crossbar while jumping, grabbed people’s attention. Many found the mishap extremely hilarious.

Soon after, people took to Twitter to mock him. One Twitter user wrote, “It’s not the worst thing in the World losing a Gold Medal in the #Olympics because you’re packing a French Baguette 🤣😂😂…”

Likewise, the media disseminated the news with the sarcastic heading, “Pole vaulter’s Olympic dream shattered by his own pen*s.”

Well, whatever the matter is, the viral video has greatly benefitted Anthony Ammirati, earning him a huge number of followers on his social media. Reports say that he had 8,400 followers on his Instagram, which has now reached 111k.

On August 5, 2024, the largest Eastern European media, NEXTA, shared a viral video on its Twitter page claiming that Anthony earned more female admirers after his mishap in the pole vault.

In this regard, NEXTA wrote, “Anthony will not be able to compete for gold, but his Instagram was filled with new female fans.”

Well, Anthony was definitely expecting to win a medal in the Paris Olympics, which he unfortunately missed out on this time.

Via the French Athletic Federation, the French athlete later released a statement stating that the loss was a big disappointment and that he was a bit gutted.

However, since his number of followers has significantly increased from hundreds to thousands overnight, the media is pinpointing the incident on a positive note, considering it a huge benefit for Anthony in the coming days.
