The 22-year-old Miss Michigan Alma Cooper, who was recently crowned Miss USA 2024, has credited her Afro-Latina parents, Stacey Cooper and Oralia Cooper, for everything she has achieved so far.
Alma wouldn’t have accomplished such heights in her career if her parents had not been there unwaveringly backing her up. During an exclusive talk with WWKAR public media, she said, “My parents have had a huge impact on my life. They have never given up on me and have always supported me.”
The newly crowned Miss USA further stated that her mother and father never became suspicious of her abilities and always influenced her to strive for bigger things in life.
Alma Cooper always received proper guidance from her parents whenever she needed it without feeling pressured. She was provided full freedom in whatever she did in her life, from choosing a college to pursuing her career.
Alma’s parents worked hard all their lives to nurture their children’s dreams, which always inspired her to achieve something big.
While Alma Cooper’s father serves in the military, her mother is a former pageant contestant!
Stacey Cooper, the father of Miss USA Alma Cooper, is an army major, according to her Stanford bio. Regarding her black father’s job, she once said, “My father was the first Army officer in the family, and I was excited to follow in his footsteps, push my physical limits, and hone my leadership skills.”
Since she aspired to become like her father, she later joined West Point, the U.S. military academy, and became the first active-duty Army officer.
On the other hand, her mother, Oralia Cooper, is a former pageant contestant who always wishes her daughter to participate in a pageantry competition; as she once stated, “Every mom wants their daughter to follow their dreams.”
Alma said she was just 14 years old when her mom sewed her the dress to compete in the Miss Michigan Teen USA pageant. As a good daughter, Alma Cooper fulfilled her mother’s dream of participating in the pageantry competition and even winning the Miss USA crown.
Alma Cooper, in fact, made both her parents proud. She followed in their footsteps and earned a name and fame.
