Emily Gold, a member of the Los Osos High School cheerleading team who competed in season 19 of American’s Got Talent, tragically passed away on September 13, Friday, leaving her parents and loved ones devastated.
According to New York Post, Emily Gold, 17, took her life weeks after performing in the quarterfinals of NBC’s reality competition along with her Los Osos High School cheerleading troupe.
Reports also stated that Emily’s body was found just before midnight Friday under an overpass in Rancho Cucamonga.
Meanwhile, the parents of Emily Gold have shared a heartfelt post on their social media announcing her demise and expressing their sorrow and pain from the tragic loss of their teenage daughter.
While mourning Emily, Gold’s father, Steven Gold, wrote, “Dear friends, with sadness beyond measure we must tell you all that we lost our beautiful Emily on September 31th, our hearts have a hole the size of the universe right now.“
In response, many of Emily’s followers, friends, and loved ones, including her teammates from dance groups, shared condolences to her parents and family. A fundraiser has also been organized to support her family, and around $34,596 has been raised in Go Fund Me.
Furthermore, Emily Gold’s parents appreciate all the support and love they are receiving in this painful situation. They stated, “The outpouring of love and support we are receiving shows us how many lives that angel touched and lifted, and it is what will help us through the most difficult time of our lives.”
Both of Emily Gold’s parents, Steven and Brandy Gold, are dental professionals!
Emily Gold’s parents are dentists with years of experience in the medical field. Her father, Steven A. Gold, is a renowned Doctor of Dental Surgery, whereas her mother, Brandy Gold, is a registered dental hygienist.
Likewise, Steven Gold, a fellow of the International College of Dentists, has over 28 years of experience as a general dentist. He transitioned to academics after 16 years of full-time private practice in Southern California.
Emily’s father, Steven, is currently an assistant professor and coordinator of Digital Dentistry at the Western University of Health Science, College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California.
Steven Gold graduated from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in 1993. He also has a bachelor’s degree in science with honors in cell and molecular biology from Syracuse Univeristy.
Similarly, Emily’s mother, Brandy Gold, worked as a registered dental hygienist at Oregon Health and Science University per her LinkedIn profile.
