Lately, Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, a general surgeon at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital, Flordia, has been on the news for allegedly performing the surgery wrong and removing his patient’s liver.
On September 2, 2024, when a post titled ‘Doctor removed liver during surgery’ was posted on reddit, a reddit user named Nysoz provided a complete description of the matter, stating that the patient was William Bryan of Alabama, who visited the hospital (where Thomas works) with his wife Beverly after experiencing ‘left-sided flank pain.’
After that, doctors, including Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, admitted Bryan to the hospital with the concern that there was some abnormality of the spleen and later persuaded him to undergo surgery.
Initially, the Bryan couple were reluctant to go for surgery, but they later agreed after the doctor said that the condition would go serious if they casually talked about Brian’s condition.

This is a sentinel event and needs IMMEDIATE suspension of Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky’s privileges and should be reported to Joint Commission.
In all of my years in the OR, I have never seen anything so egregious.

In this regard, reddit user, Nysoz further wrote, “On August 21, 2024, Dr. Shaknovsky proceeded with a hand-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy procedure. During this operation, Dr. Shaknovsky removed Mr. Bryan’s liver….causing immediate and catastrophic blood loss resulting in dea*h.”
Post this incident, Bryan’s wife Beverly reportedly filed a case against the hospital and Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky for her husband’s unfortunate demise.
Many are currently bashing Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky for his negligence & asking for the termination of his medical license!
Since most believe that the 70-year-old William Bryan lost his life due to the carelessness of Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, people are criticizing Thomas on reddit, considering his action a complete negligence.
One of the reddit users named SquirellyMofo wrote, “Holy sh*t. He removed the pancreas instead of the adrenal gland…That’s a major fu*k up. He should have lost his license then... doesn’t know anatomy.”
Likewise, another criticized Bryan, saying, “I just assumed he got his MD from the same Florida diploma mill as the RN scandal.”
At the same time, people also assume that Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky may be suffering from dementia or maybe having a substance abuse problem and stated that his license should be suspended.
