Behind the Pane

Behind the Pane

Last week I added new photos to two frames that I keep on my desk at work.  As I slid the back off the first frame, ten years spilled out onto my desk.  It has become my habit to leave the old photo behind the new one when I update a photo frame.  Years of memories are sitting right there on my desk everyday, but hidden from view.

These two simple frames are especially meaningful to me.  They were gifts from my friend and coworker Whitney, who succumbed to cancer several years ago.  I know she’d appreciate that these frames secretly hold snippets of special memories captured over the years.

The next time you take the back off a frame to add a photo, toss the cardboard that comes with the frame to keep the photo snugly in place.  Instead let your old photos do that job.
